The car in front of us pulled to the side of the road, but I knew we were not lost. Where were we all going? To the Moreland Village opening party at Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina.
As a plantation member, my previous mode of transportation to Moreland was cruising on my bike. I have ridden miles through the rough sand trails, nestled along the maritime forest, to arrive at this beautiful riverfront destination. Arriving at Moreland landing, I would climb up the local tree house via the winding rustic rope and wooden stairs. Once on top, the salty wind would sweep my sun-filled face, all the while my eyes are treated to breathtaking views of the May River waterways, oyster beds and marshes.
But now I was driving my SUV down the newly-paved roads to the latest Palmetto Bluff residential development called Moreland Village. The car pulled up behind me to follow and continue our journey over the beautiful wooden bridge into the center of the new village called Maritime Row. Once parked, I could hear the music, and the crunch of the gravel, pebbles and oysters under my feet as I made my way towards the party tent. The village roads give such a warm and rustic feel to the community.
The community will be 60 acres with 90 residential lots and commercial space once completed, but for now, it is a dream development. As a visionary, I love to be invited to opening parties. I find it a pleasure to picture in my mind what will be, in just a few years, a thriving community.
To give all of the guests a better feel, we were treated to sweet southern cocktails, pork and other tasty food delights and wonderful music. All in a luxe, riverfront setting with wooden tables, comfy couches topped with pillows and a great open bar. A great Resort Girl setting!
As it states on the Moreland Village website, “You can walk among the live oaks, kayak the river or go fly fishing in the river.” A truly great Resort Girl way of life!
