Hasn’t every Resort Girl desired to be mermaid at one time in her life or another?

One of my favorite places as a little girl was sitting on the bottom of our clear, blue-watered pool and having tea with my make-believe underwater friends. It was my personal quiet place – the water was my calm cocoon.

There is something about looking up and seeing the maze of waves with sunlight streaking through as your view. To this day, one of my favorite things to do is be the first person to break the tranquil surface of our community pool, then be a mermaid and dive deep below to the bottom.

Once at the bottom, I relished the sensation of looking up to the sunlight – just as I did as a little girl – a water baby. If you haven’t already, you should try being the first to do this. It’s also nice to have the pool to yourself, so your surroundings are as calm as the waters.

Mermaids, with the allure of their fish tails emerging from human torsos and long flowing locks, have played a role in many mystical and romantic tales. What woman does not want to swim under the sea with all of the glorious sea creations and creatures? Being one with nature brings out the beauty in all things.

A Resort Girl Roams Among The Crimson Maples

The maze of maples in the Gibbs Japanese Maple Festival was amazing! My eyes felt like there were 50 ways to see this beautiful tree formally called the acer palmatum –  all in the backdrop of the glorious Gibbs Gardens.

As a Gibbs season pass member, I took a Resort Girl road trip up there this week for my first fall festival. The gardens were filled with many visitors and plenty of fall foliage. Photographers, including this RG, were having a delightful day, snapping shots of the different varieties of flora and fauna, especially the crimson maples.

The air was crisp and the skies clear, which was a nice break from the many recent rain storms. However, these rains did impact the vibrancy of the colors this fall in the North Georgia Mountains.

This Resort Girl is not an avid gardener, but the visitors that day who were surely enjoyed identifying the different species. Better Homes and Gardens has a great list of Japanese maples for your own Resort Girl garden.

Making your own small Japanese maple garden will give you a great place to relax and reflect each day. I picked up a cool little stone in the garden shop that would be a great addition! It has the word relax on it with the Japanese symbol.

I loved how the ponds at Gibbs Gardens gave you a double shot of the beauty with the reflections of the trees on the placid water.

From sports and travel mates to coaches and resort and hotel associates – your RG team partners make your life beautiful, Resort Girl.

There are many famous sporting partners. The first that come to mind are famous golfers and their caddies. Then, many doubles who are victorious on the courts, grass or clay. These sports professionals’ skills complement each other and their minds work in balance and conjunction. As the saying goes, two minds are better than one. And now, when you add technology, there are those emerging winning equipment partnerships too.

As I was researching famous sports partnerships, I noticed that about 75% of them were among males. It made me wonder, “Is it the same in sports as business, that women are lagging in legendary sporting partnerships? If so, why?” It could be that the women’s sports field is still an emerging industry. Women now have more time to enjoy the sporting life with advances in technology at home, flexible work schedules and more time to enjoy retirement.

But still, as Resort Girls, we are pioneers – forging our way into new territories while building our RG lifestyle. We are forming our RG partnerships with other women, coaches, clubs and resorts.

Resort Guys have it down from years of locker room talk and sporting celebrations and outings which began when they were in high school! But as women, we are, in many ways, entrepreneurs forming our own ways of enjoying the sporting and resort life.

Below are some beautiful ideas to get you started:

  • Reflect during a mountain yoga retreat on your next “what” in life.

These are the Resort Girls who help you relax, reflect and recharge. They do not drain your batteries but recharge you. They compete on, but not off, the courts. And they always are your best cheerleaders and, sometimes, coaches.

Resort Girls have a beautiful vision for their lives. Each day they add a bit more to the “where” of making that picture and purpose come true.

The most joy and serenity can be found in the simplest things in life. The smell of a rose, the salty winds on your face, the laughter with family and friends, and most of all – doing what you love and being with the ones you love.

But society has always struggled with emphasis on material things — this Resort Girl included. Trust me, from someone who has been there, done that… all they do is add up to one more storage unit full off things to get rid of.

Have we all not been there in some way? My collecting came as a way of trying to build my vision with more things, than meaning.

Why? I was not living my true life.

Yes, it was a good life in many ways – but it lacked in vision, meaning and purpose. It was not until this RG took the time to walk away from her old life and sit back and reflect, did my life vision start to appear. First, this saying came to me:

And, I now keep this personal quote as my screen saver and do believe it saved me. I knew these words rang true to many other RGs as it received many so many likes on Facebook – you saw it way before me and agreed.

That is why I have decided to concentrate on exploring and building my future and Perfect life plan. Life is short…every hour is like a gift…every day is an opportunity for happiness and joy.

But if you are not “where” you need to be, then it is hard to see these moments of joy. You are fighting a constant battle — your mind, body and soul want to be somewhere else.

I do feel true peace comes to those who know their “where”… their purpose… and have some type of vision and plan to get there.

Many times, in order to figure out that plan, you need only be still. Find a place of rest.
