Resort Girl Gets a Butler on Her Stay

September 14, 2015
ButlerLetter

What a way to start off your vacay – with a letter from your personal hotel butler. The letter ended with, “If we can assist you in any way throughout your stay, please do not hesitate to contact any of our butlers via the ‘Butler Services’ button on your in-room telephone.”

So I wondered, what could a butler do to make a Resort Girl’s stay the best vacay ever? Would he turn down the bed at night? Well, they already do that for you each night. So then I wondered if they would fill up this beautiful extra-deep soaking bath tub and guess what? They do, via your Luxury Bath Butler. And they have four types of indulgent bath experiences offered by your personal Bath Butler to enliven, awake or give RGs sweet dreams.

BathButler

The Bath Butler’s services are described like so: “The butler will prepare an elegant setting including desired water temperature, oversized bath towel, candles, slippers and robe placed for your comfort. The Bath Butler also includes a selection of bath salts and bath gels.” How soothing does that sound…?

The other services I’ve experienced so far include getting your own personal beach towel handed to you in a beautiful wooden basket and your chosen morning papers hung in a beautiful bag by your front door – so much better than on the hallway floor. There are other things too, from free transport to the beach to fulfilling in-room dining requests.

By the pool the butler set up my chair with a fresh towel and made sure the umbrella was in just the right place. They then brought ice water with fresh lemon slices to my umbrella shaded table. Of course, a drink with a festive mini umbrella was also offered.

It was a memorable end of the day dip in the pool to end the summer RG vacay, splashing in what the Inn refers to as the tranquil pool and feeling the first cool crisp fall breezes blowing through this Resort Girl’s hair. Cheers to the coming of fall and the end of a glorious summer!

It is quite nice to have a butler or two for a few days! This one was at the Inn at Harbour Town at Sea Pines Resort, South Carolina, but many hotels offer butler services. A butler or two for your vacay is a great way to help Resort Girls have a more enjoyable stay!

Resort Girls Lounge in a Luxe Locker Room

September 11, 2015
HTownWomenslounge

Can lounging in a locker room be considered a luxe experience? Oh, yes it can! Come to the Harbour Town Clubhouse at the Sea Pines Resort in South Carolina, and take a luxe lounge in the ladies’ locker room before and after your round of golf! This RG often uses locker rooms as my temporary office – they are a great place to relax, reflect and write!

HTownWomenlounge

The Harbour Town Clubhouse re-opened in January of 2015, and the golf course is very close to re-opening after I what heard was an extensive renovation. The new clubhouse is now open for dining, and that is what this Resort Girl has done the last two nights – as I’ve been staying at the Inn at Harbour Town.

The clubhouse is only a few steps away from the Inn, and it has been a pleasure to dine on mouth-watering, world-class cuisine while (as the club says) “overlooking one of America’s greatest golf courses.” This RG wanted to watch sports while writing, so I sat at the bar and got to enjoy the games as well.

Another luxe experience was lounging in the ladies’ locker room – and this one is fabulous! As a diner, you have access to the locker room – it is the ladies’ powder room as well. The bathroom is amazing with marble running throughout, roomy showers and gilded mirrors. The furnishings are first class, the towels abundant and there are even cookies and sweets for your tasting, as well as comfy couches to rest on before or after play – or simply to sit and write.

So, this RG wondered… if the women’s lounge is this first class… what does the men’s locker room look like?

The answer? Just as spectacular and two stories high! This never-too-shy Resort Girl asked to tour it, and the staff graciously gave me permission to take a quick look as it was closing down for the evening. I just had to holler “Resort Girl on the floor” to make sure all the Resort Guys had gone.

I began my journey up the stairwell, viewing the colorful paintings of past winners of the historic RBG Heritage Golf Tournament, South Carolina’s only PGA Tournament. Viewing these famous golfers gave this RG a feeling of the magnitude of this historic and classic event.

And then, I entered the main floor and found myself floored at how handsomely appointed and grand it was.

HTMensLockerMain

The sinks were very similar to the women’s but featured darkened wood, with marble running throughout. Yes, that was a pretty impressive men’s bathroom! I will leave it to your imagination, but it is the first men’s locker room this RG would for sure use if in a pinch!

The lounging area was equal in its community appeal with big screen TVs and comfy seating, both inside and out. There is a cool, plaid glass item you Resort Guys must see – but this RG is being careful to not disclose too much, as it is private to those few who get a chance to play on one of the greatest courses. This is certainly a luxe locker room for the gathering of golfers who just had a historic round on one of the greatest golf courses – whether tournament players or just the everyday golfer who is lucky to have experienced these 18 holes!

This Resort Girl took in the spirit of these handsomely appointed rooms, and then snuck down the stairwell hollering “Resort Girl on the floor” all the way down! Then back to the Inn I went.

Resort Girls, take a picture yourself lounging in a beautiful locker room – and share with us your luxe experience! Here’s this RG’s pic:

Life Is Good for Resort Girls

September 9, 2015
ToesatResort

Life is good for Resort Girls, as they take time to relax, reflect and recharge. RGs work hard, but they also play hard – they balance it out. Yes, some of us RGs have to learn to play a bit harder. That would be this Resort Girl, for sure. My mind can become incredibly work-focused on a subject or project (as I am a results-oriented person.) Give me a project and a home in which to work and I will get it done ASAP!

One of the hardest things for me to learn was how to play and relax more during these super-focused times, as I generally would wind up getting run down and burn up my inner engine. That is one way Resort Girl came about — as a way for me to remember to enjoy the moment. The Resort Girl mindset – Life is Good – may be a very commonly used phrase, but is one to keep in mind every moment of every day.

Jim Rohn is an excellent source for inspirational thoughts on leading a good, “vital”, life — which he says contains 6 essentials:

“…Buy a ticket to everything you possibly can. Go see everything and experience all you possibly can.

Live a vital life. If you live well, you will earn well. If you live well, it will show in your face; it will show in the texture of your voice. There will be something unique and magical about you if you live well. It will infuse not only your personal life but also your business life. And it will give you a vitality nothing else can give.”

The team at Resort Girl is on a mission to make every RG life good by keeping you relaxed, reflecting and always recharging. Is it putting your feet in the sand or practicing yoga on a city roof top?

ToesinSand

The RG team is always looking for suggestions from all the Resort Girls on what you find makes your life good!

Resort Girls have that magical look as they live well! Life is good for Resort Girls!

Resort Girls – Get a Club Level View of a Ball Game

September 4, 2015
FlagBallgame

Baseball lovin’ Resort Girls, try a club level view for your next game outing. This Resort girl did, and it ended up being a fun night vacay!

I loved playing softball in my elementary school days. The feel of the leather glove, the cool gray and red flannel cap, and the thrill of a strike out! At first, my position was pitcher, since I had good hand-eye coordination, but I kept ducking when that ball came at my face! They then put me on first base – as I could run fast and catch too.

Maybe that is why when my GA community clubhouse offered a trip on the Fox bus to attend an Atlanta Braves game, this Resort Girl put her money down. Ok, so the Fox bus broke down, but the replacement one was comfy and, as the only single gal, I took the small front seat behind the driver.

The ride was just over an hour, but there were no congestion headaches as our driver went one exit past all of the backed-up cars as he knew the best bus shortcuts. He dropped our group off right up at the front steps…a space reserved exclusively for buses.

We then went to the club level. It was a nice view for a first-timer club level visitor! It reminded me of a luxe hotel lobby and lounge. As we walked to our assigned seats, the aroma of the many different eating destinations caught my senses from Asian to, yes, the all-American hot dog!

The hallways were filled with comfy couches, historic photographs, plenty of clean powder rooms and many helpful hands to guide you to your ultimate club level seats. I did peek into a few sky level rooms and they looked really cool as well. This Resort Girl did an invite  to watch the game there, but wanted to go with my group and take the bus with its shortcuts instead!

BravesGamePic

Not only did I enjoy a great ball game, but the complementary buffet and free brews were delicious too.

The only downside to the evening was that there was a crash in front of us when we were on the way home. Fortunately, you can also get a quick nap on the bus when they shut down the interstate. We pulled in around 1PM! I had never slept on a bus before, but now I can add that to my list of Resort Girl adventures.

So, if someone ever asks to take you out to the ball game at club level… take the bus and enjoy!

Rev Your Engines

September 2, 2015
Rev Your Engines

Fast cars are not just for guys anymore; as more and more women are becoming fascinated by the thrill of revving engines — myself included.

My fascination started in childhood, as my grandfather was the number one Cadillac salesman in Miami for many years. He was, in fact, one of the first to provide us with many weekend pleasure trips in the latest and greatest El Dorado. Those beautiful tail wings are one of my first car design memories. Next came the high school years when my own driving just began. Oh, how I wanted that 280 ZX.

Nowadays, many resorts provide luxury and sports cars for their guests’ daily use. Some come with a fee and some are free, depending on the resort. In addition, car shows are becoming quite a big draw for many as well. This year at my resort, Palmetto Bluff, Audi sponsored a car showcase as part of the Music to Your Mouth series. So, I took a spin in one of their compact SUVs, as I was in the market for one. What an enjoyable experience to test drive vehicles in your own backyard and in the midst of nature’s beauty! The driving course went alongside our equestrian trails, where I could go off road here and there.

Upon returning the SUV, the Audi team offered me a spin in a hot red sports car. The thrill of cruising down the highways and byways in a sports car is one way for this resort girl to recharge, or just taking it for a spin to the park for a picnic.

Do fast cars fascinate and recharge you?
